Padres catcher Freddy Fermin hit a solo home run Monday night in San Diego’s 6-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.
Fermin’s shot came in the third inning off Reds left-hander Andrew Abbott. The 376 foot drive to left field gave the Padres a 1-0 lead. It was Fermin’s third home run in three straight games.
The Padres rallied later with help from Samad Taylor’s three RBI and a pair of Reds infield errors. Fermin has now homered in each of the last three contests as San Diego improved its recent form.
The 26 year old catcher has started to find his power stroke after a slow start to the season. The win moved the Padres to 2-1 in the short series against Cincinnati.
