Dodgers Power Past Phillies in Series Opener
The Los Angeles Dodgers took care of business Friday night, beating the Philadelphia Phillies 4-2 in the first game of their weekend series at Dodger Stadium on May 29, 2026.
The Dodgers got all their offense from the long ball, smashing four home runs in the game. Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy, Shohei Ohtani, and Will Smith each went deep, giving the home team just enough to hold off the Phillies.On the mound, Justin Wrobleski turned in a gem for Los Angeles. The lefty went seven strong innings, allowing just one hit and one earned run while striking out a career-high nine batters to improve to 7-2 on the season.
The Phillies managed just two runs on three hits. They scratched across single runs in the sixth and eighth innings but couldn't mount their a bigger comeback against the Dodgers' bullpen.
With the win, the Dodgers improved to 37-20. The Phillies dropped to 29-28. Baseball fans will see these two clubs back at it again Saturday as the series continues.
