Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing left Monday’s game against the Minnesota Twins after taking a foul tip off his mask in the first inning.
Rushing was replaced by Chuckie Robinson in the third inning. The Dodgers said he left to rule out a concussion and was placed in protocol. He passed the initial concussion test but will undergo another evaluation in 24 hours and is not expected to play in the next game.
Rushing has a prior history with concussions, including a significant one in the minors in 2023. Manager Dave Roberts noted that the team is monitoring him closely.
The injury adds to the Dodgers challenges behind the plate. Veteran catcher Will Smith remains on the injured list with a neck issue. The team may need to make roster moves to add catching depth for the ongoing series.
