The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Diego Padres 4-2 on Sunday at Petco Park to win two of three in the series.
Shohei Ohtani gave the Dodgers a 1-0 lead in the third inning with an RBI single that scored Alex Freeland. Manny Machado tied the game with a solo home run in the fourth. In the fifth, Freddie Freeman drew a bases loaded walk to put the Dodgers ahead, and Mookie Betts followed with a two run single that scored Ohtani and Andy Pages. Xander Bogaerts added an RBI single for the Padres in the sixth, but that was all they could manage.
Emmet Sheehan picked up the win after allowing one run over five innings. Michael King took the loss for San Diego. The Dodgers bullpen, including Evan Henriquez in the ninth, held the lead.
The day before, the Dodgers blew the game open with a nine run sixth inning in a 15-3 win. That frame included home runs by Kyle Tucker, Dalton Rushing, and a three run shot by Mookie Betts.
The series win keeps the Dodgers in a strong spot in the National League West while the Padres continue to look for consistency against top competition.
