The 2026 NCAA Division I baseball tournament has reached its final stage. Eight teams will compete in the Men's College World Series starting Friday at Charles Schwab Field Omaha.
The field includes a record five teams from the Southeastern Conference. Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Texas advanced after winning their super regional series. North Carolina, Troy and West Virginia also earned spots.
Super regional play featured several close contests. North Carolina walked off USC in the Chapel Hill series. Georgia topped Mississippi State in a high scoring game. West Virginia swept Cal Poly to reach Omaha for the first time.
The double elimination format opens with West Virginia facing Troy and North Carolina taking on Ole Miss on Friday. Additional games follow on Saturday. The tournament runs through late June and will crown a national champion.
The SEC's strong showing reflects the conference's depth this season. Several teams are making return trips while others seek their first College World Series appearance.
